If I have a month to month lease and want to move out of my apartment, what steps do I need to follow?
Renter Answers

When you have a month to month lease, you need to give 30 days notice.  The way to do this is to give notice BEFORE the last day of your last month (calendar month).  For example, if you decided October 21st that you no longer wanted to live in your apartment, you would need to give your landlord notice no later than October 31st to vacate your apartment on November 30th.

Lease terms always go by month, so even though you technically gave your termination on October 21st, you would still be responsible for paying all of November's rent.
